A Summer Wedding At The Bluff, Ferndale Ca

The Johnsons

July 19th, 2025

Traveling is one of the best parts about filming weddings, so when Sarah and Bryce reached out about their Humboldt County wedding, we couldn't have been more excited. From the fields of the Central Valley and up through the forests of Humboldt County, the 6-hour trek through rural towns and "Bigfootland" alone was worth it. But arriving at Sarah and Bryce's wedding weekend was even better.

At The Bluff

Perched above California's rugged Lost Coast near the charming Victorian town of Ferndale, At The Bluff offers a breathtaking setting where sweeping ocean views meet towering coastal forests. The venue's dramatic cliffs, open meadows, and peaceful atmosphere create an unforgettable backdrop for couples seeking a wedding that feels both intimate and adventurous.

One of the venue's most captivating features is its ever-changing landscape. Coastal fog can roll in to create a soft, cinematic atmosphere before giving way to golden afternoon light and spectacular sunsets over the Pacific. Whether exchanging vows overlooking the open fields or celebrating beneath the stars, every part of the property is beautiful.

Just minutes from downtown Ferndale, At The Bluff combines the tranquility of Northern California's coastline with convenient access for guests. It's an ideal destination for couples who want to escape the ordinary and celebrate surrounded by the natural beauty of California's North Coast.

Advice for Future Couples

If you're planning a wedding at At The Bluff, our biggest piece of advice is simple: don't make your wedding day your entire trip. Arrive at least a day early and stay an extra day afterward if you can.

Ferndale is one of those places that's meant to be experienced at a slower pace. Stroll through its beautifully preserved Victorian downtown, browse the local shops, enjoy a cozy meal at one of the town's restaurants, and take in the quiet charm that makes this part of Northern California so special. Just beyond town, you'll find dramatic coastal overlooks, hidden beaches, and scenic drives that are well worth exploring.

Giving yourselves extra time also helps you ease into the wedding weekend. Arriving early means less rushing, more time with family and friends, and the opportunity to truly soak in the excitement before the celebrations begin. Staying an extra day afterward lets you unwind together, reflect on everything you've just experienced, and enjoy the incredible beauty of the Lost Coast before heading home.

A destination as unique as Ferndale deserves more than just a single day—it deserves to be part of the story you'll remember long after the wedding is over.
